Review of Taurus 5-30x56 Scope

The official release

Hello guys briefly to introduce something my name is Marco I am a German competition shooter and Vector Optics has sent me a Taurus 5-30x56 to test it for you.

What can I say the scope has convinced not only me but all those I have shown it to and can easily compete with the scopes from well-known manufacturers.

But let's go into the details of my test:

The Vector Optics Taurus 5-30x56 comes in a very good package with a lot of accessories and thus an all around carefree package.

The scope itself is very well made has a clear colorful and sharp image which is due to the very well made lenses of the German company Schott the 56mm objective diameter and the 30mm center tube.

The reticle on the first focal plane is very fine at 5x magnification and somewhat difficult to see on bright backgrounds. At high magnification the overall image loses some color which is normal but still remains razor sharp.

The adjustment towers are absulut repeatable accurate not too heavy not too easy to turn and have nice big audible clicks but for my feeling could be a bit sharper.

In addition, you get to the standard adjustment tower (black) 1click=1/10MIL two more adjustment towers (gold-bronze) 1click=0.1MRAD and (rose gold) 1click=1cm. Unfortunately, the scale on my gold-bronze turret is not 100% the same with the point on the scope which is due to a slight offset in the gearing of the turret which is not too bad for me because all turrets are absolutely usable and I use anyway the standard adjustment turret.

To the included mounting there is not much to say except that these have a good quality very easy to assemble and a very good support. In my case they are a little too high for my rifle however I do not know if you can choose the height of the mounting when ordering. Even if not I was able to shoot with it without any problems.

The scope weighs with mounting about 960 grams is therefore rather lighter than comparable scopes.

Now we come to the illumination of the reticle whereby here only the point in the middle of the reticle is illuminated and there I must say there were small problems with me.

image.png

First I must say the brightness is very good, adjustable in 6 steps and is located on the dial of the parallax which also makes a very good feel when turning.

Unfortunately, even the strongest level of illumination at 5x magnification on bright backgrounds is not visible. The illumination is only visible on bright backgrounds from about 10x magnification.

image.png

It also seems to me as if not the reticle is directly illuminated but rather like a red dot a light is reflected on the reticle which leads me to the red dot of the illumination moves on the reticle and is partly not a sharp red dot but is slightly frayed at the edges. The fraying of the red dot is probably due to my slight eye defect because I have that even with normal red dot sights. Also, the illumination at max. level is so bright that at 30x magnification the whole reticle is slightly illuminated.

All in all, I find the lighting is not so good but since I will not use them anyway is not too bad.

Now we come to the rest of the scope of delivery.

Included is a Honeycomb which is also very well made and easy to assemble and is made entirely of aluminum. A standard rubber/silicone protection for the lenses and a cleaning cloth with Vector Optics logo is also included. For the adjustment towers there is a tool made of high quality plastic and not to forget the Vector Optics warranty card for your lifetime warranty and the Vector Optics lucky chip. A battery was not included but this is probably due to the shipping regulations and is not a problem because these batteries can be found in every household.

The scope was for the test mounted on a slightly tuned Reminton 700 SPS Tactical, has worked without problem and has been very easy to adjust and will remain for competitions on the gun.

My conclusion from the entire test a must have for every shooter!

Pros:

Good quality

Clear lenses

Sharp and colorful image

Good reticle

Normal weight

Repeatable

Precise

Very good price

Cons:

The only thing I do not like is the lighting

I hope my review could help you.
