Here is the Frenzy Plus 1x22x32 Solar Power Red Dot Sight & Frenzy Plus 1x22x32 QD Red Dot Sight review from Jani Nordman.
SCRD-SM44 & SCRD-65 FRENZY PLUS 1X22X32
BIG window! That is the first thought that comes to mind as soon as you get this red dot into your hands and mount it, if you don't think it's big, have a look at the pictures where it's next to Frenzy-S, it dwarfs the granted smallest red dot for pistol. Yes, this model is designed to be used with long guns such as rifles, shotguns, and pistol caliber carbines so for these it's not the biggest red dot, but as it can be installed on a pistol, I did so!
So why would you need a red dot the size of a flat TV? Well, you might be looking for one and this definitely delivers on the big window size! I found it to be super good for my PCC (pistol caliber carbine 9mm) as the big window gives you an awesome view of the target field, the housing is a bit thick but both eyes open it's not too bad and the thicker housing gives more strength against drops and bumps, it also works surprisingly well with a pistol platform, as the 6 MOA version was mounted to a custom build 2011 for IPSC open division, for this work the big window also helps target acquisition on fast-paced IPSC course.
You get two options just a 6 MOA dot (without solar panel) or a multidot option with solar panel (3MOA dot, circle dot, and circle alone) depending on your use case you select the one that best suits your platform. The dot is clear on the 6MOA with okay(ish) illumination levels but might struggle on direct sunlight conditions as the highest brightness level is not blindingly bright. The three options for the multidot version are also super crisp, but it also struggles in direct sunlight.
The dot comes with a picatinny mount already mounted to the optic, with a really good quick-release lever, compared to some of the cheap QD mounts on the cheapest options, I would actually trust this one not to come off after sustained gunfire, it actually locks securely, and the tension adjustment is precise with clicks and an anti-walk design so the mount doesn't get loose during firing. I truly hope this mount design will become available for all closed red dot/prism options (maverick, scrapper, paragon, etc.) and the magnifiers of said family of optics.
The red dot itself has a C-more footprint so if you want you can mount it to any platform using that footprint, I mounted it on an IPSC open-class pistol, and for that use it also performed excellently, just a side note to anyone thinking getting it for a pistol be aware that the parallax is set to 100m, this can cause some parallax shift at close range, but pistol engagements for close range it doesn't really make too much of a difference, but just be aware that this can make zeroing challenge depending on the range you use to zero a pistol red dot.
Windage and elevation adjustment have clicks, this could be a little bit more audible, but they do work well, and no issues of zero shift during the thousand or so rounds between the two platforms that we tested.
The battery compartment is on the side, this is a good trend in the pistol red dot market that should become the new norm as you don't have to remove the sight for battery changes. It takes the now almost industry standard red dot battery CR2032.
A harsh weather test was conducted during -20°C with snow, even filled with snow and just clearing the window with gloves no issues with seeing the dot, even though the emitter had some snow around it, you can see this in the pictures.
What I do miss the most is a silicone cover for the sight, as not including any protection for the sight while transporting, standing around, or storage, the open sight can collect dirt, dust, or moisture or scratch the emitter/glass. This is something I struggle to understand, the reason for excluding this non-expensive vital protection for any optical sight. Hopefully, Vector optics will take this feedback and offer one as standard in the packaging in the future and an aftersales version for those who get it without one already now!
