Finally, after more than a month of fixing my firearms license, permit to carry, and the typhoons infinally got to take her out to the range. Unfortunately, we could not mount it on a 5.56 rifle as there are limited ranges in Manila that allow use of high powered rifles.
Out-of the-precision and accuracy 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As with my other optics, by default I would simply mount the scope and make sure it's all level. Fired my first five shot group at 40-50m and got them to form a 3-inch group to the right. The elevation was already almost spot on. All I had to do was move the reticle to the left. All in all, spent just 20 rounds of 9mm zeroing this scope. Now I'm hitting 2-inch groups at 50m. Quite a feat considering I'm just using a 9mm carbine.
Red dot visibility and crispness 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
As you can see it's bright and sunny where I'm shooting. Its about 11am. The half circle dot at 1x magnfication is visible when shooting from the shade. However, when shooting out in the sun it tends to diffuse and fade making it challenging to acquire targets quickly. At full magnification and brightness this gets even more challenging as one could barely make out the half circle and center dot, although the christmas tree hashmarks were crisp. This would be great shooting from a static position, in the shade but would have to takecsome getting used to when shootingin bright daylight.
The rapid acquisition reticle (RAR) design delivers on its promise, as long as it's not so bright outside or shootingvagainst the sun.
Eye box and eye relief: 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The eye relief and eye box ate not as forgiving as with my other Vector Optic LPVO. This is specially true as I moved to the 8x magnification . The slightest movement or misplacement of my cheek weld and the sight picture is lost dramatically. Compared to my VO Grimlock, the shadow effect in the eyebox isn't as larger and us easier to manage.
Weight 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Maybe just a personal preference but found it added only a little bit of weight and is almost comparable to my Grimlock. I think it's just a matter of practicing with it more.
Controls 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
The windage and elevation adjustments were very precise and responsive. Audible clicks were satisfying as i was adjusting the reticle position for more precise shots.
Overall, the Constantine 1-8X is still an amazing optic for rifle and carbine shooters. The form factor and build quality are perfect. The esse of use, durability, and precision exceed expectations for a scope at this price point.
