Scrapper 1x25 Solar Power Multi Reticle Red Dot Sight Review

2024-07-26

Here is the Scrapper 1x25 Solar Power Multi Reticle Red Dot Sight review from Csaba Zoltán Laboncz.

A Massive Workhorse?! SCRAPPER 1X25 SOLAR POWER MULTI RETICLE

I needed a rifle red dot, and naturally, I looked at the Vector Optics list again. I checked out several types, and finally, due to the style of the weapon, I chose the Scrapper 1X25 (SCRD-SM46), which is of course the solar-powered and multi-reticle version. A similar style Holosun was replaced with this type.A very impressive box arrived, opening it in the middle, you find the papers, a tool shaped like a rifle with different key slots on each side, which is fully sufficient for installation and adjustment. The optic itself and a cleaning cloth are in the bottom section.

What immediately surprised me was the quality of the item. A clean design, very nice surface finish, and flawless lens. The optic comes with a Weaver rail mount, which is also more solid, not large and ugly. It comes with a practical rubber protective cap. The material is 6061 T6 aluminum, which fully perform the usage conditions. Of course, it is IP67 waterproof certified. The size of the optic is surprised me, it is much more usable size for me then the Holosun, and the displayed dot and circle are entirely similar. The battery can be inserted from the side, under an aluminum cover with the Vector Optics logo, and it is a CR2032 type, but thanks to the solar panel, it almost never needs to be replaced. The reticle point and the outer circle are clearly visible. The circle-dot combo, and just the circle and just the dot are usable. The dot is 2 MOA in size, and the outer circle is 40. I really liked this sizing, it was easy to find the target quickly with it during fast movements, and it doesn't obscure much. Its brightness has 8 daytime and 2 nighttime settings, with buttons on the left side of the optic, covered with rubber, providing a very fine but noticeably secure feel. However, the brightness proved to be somewhat insufficient in some cases, as I tested it at noon in the brightest sunlight, it could be a bit stronger. It wasn't disturbing, but I had to search for the optic on a white target sometimes. The color used is red again, green might be an option, but for me, it's not relevant. I would use the red colour.

The Scrapper was mounted on a Russian-made Izhmash Saiga 9 PCC, with a railed receiver cover, so it could be directly mounted using the base. I could screw it into place very easily; it has T10 Torx screws, and I was ready to go to the range. Zeroing in was quick, 12-15 shots, the adjustment screws are on the side and top of the optic, with audible clicks, one click equals 1 MOA adjustment. It could be set very precisely. The height was also perfect due to the base and its size.

Since the optic was used on a PCC, there wasn't much recoil with quick shots, and due to the large window size, it was very easy to follow up. What I particularly liked was the lens clarity, with zero distortion. It was completely reliable during today's use. It was particularly enjoyable to use. During breaks, there was no need to deal with the optic, if no movement is detected, it automatically turns off and then turns back on with movement, ready for use. Even after multiple magazine changes and consecutive shots, the optic remained accurate, its intensity did not change, and it operated perfectly. Its operating range is between -20 and +50 degrees Celsius.

I was convinced, it has everything a modern optic should have, plus the design is fine, the price is half of the other brand's optics, and the VIP warranty is a trump card against many brands. I have already described the VIP warranty for a previous optic, but I am copying it here again. With the number on the card included in the package, you need to register on the Vector Optics website, where after filling out a form in a few minutes, you get a VIP warranty, which is quite rare in this segment. More can be learned about the VIP warranty on the Vector website.
