Here is the Taurus 2-16x50 HD SFP Rifle Scope review from Borbás Gábor.
Taurus 2-16X50 HD
My current test subject is a Vector Optics Taurus 2-16 HD optic. Thanks to Vector for making the optics available to me.
The box contains the following: the optic itself, a cleaning cloth, shield lens, lens protection rubber and a 30mm Picatinny mount. The optics have a 30 mm tube and a 50 mm HD front lens. Its length is 338 mm. It weighs 766 grams. Magnification 2-16. Its reticle has a tactical split. Its focal plane is SFP. It has lateral focus adjustment from 10 yards to infinity. The diopter can be adjusted between +2 and -2 on the rear lens. Only the dot lights up in 6 degrees. This requires a CR2032 battery, which is not included with the optics. Its water resistance is IP67, it is shock-resistant up to 1000 grams. Its tube is filled with nitrogen, so it does not fog up. The material of the tube is 6061T6 aluminum alloy, the color is matte black.
It is easy to install, but those using it for airguns will need an 11 mm mount, which is also not included with the optics. Thanks to the HD lens, we get a beautiful, crystal clear picture. Its crosshairs are hair-thin and do not cover the target, even at close range. As a result, aiming takes a short time, and a target can be found quickly. The sharpness of the depth is excellent, and the image is dust-free. Its turrets respond well to clicking. The upper turret has a zero-stop function. Unfortunately, its towers cannot be fixed. It is not sensitive to temperature fluctuations. I tested it at 7-42 meters (Hunter Field Target). His thread cross is not really suitable for this because of the milldot division.
Positives:
- HD lens
- crystal clear image
- hair-thin crosshairs
- lateral parallax adjustment
- minimal insight error
- fast, easy aiming
Negatives:
- battery not included
- Lack of 11 mm rail
- lack of shading extension
- its towers cannot be fixed
I don't really recommend the optics for HFT, but they are great for silhouette, precision, medium and long range shooting. Due to its impact resistance, it is also recommended for large-caliber weapons.
Overall, it is an excellent choice in terms of value for money. It has a lifetime guarantee, which is transferable and the invoice is not required.
